Pet Food Recall: Pedigree weight management dog food recalled

Pedigree has announced a recall of some of their canned dog foods because pieces of blue plastic in the food.

Mars Petcare Recalls Dog Food with Plastic

According to a statement, the recalled cans “may contain small pieces of blue plastic, which broke off a conveyor belt during the production process” but they replaced the conveyor belt and consider the issue to be resolved. Some people have reported finding pieces plastic, but no injuries or illnesses have been reported.
The recalled dog food has been distributed throughout the U.S. and includes cans of PEDIGREE® weight management canned dog food varieties with the following UPC codes:
  • 2310034974 Pedigree+ Healthy Weight Premium Ground Entree in Meaty Juices
  • 2310001913 Pedigree Weight Management Meaty Ground Dinner Beef & Liver Dinner in Meaty Juices
  • 2310023045 Pedigree Weight Management Meaty Ground Dinner Chicken & Rice Dinner in Meaty Juices
Each product will have a lot code printed on the end of the can that begins with 209, 210, 211 or 212 and a Best Before date that falls between 2/24/2014 and 3/23/2014.
The company is encouraging people who have purchased the recalled dog food to throw it away or return it for a full refund or exchange. For questions or more information, you can call 1-877-720-3335.
